Meal Plan Add Schedule
If you are looking to add a meal plan and you do not currently have one, please follow the steps below. An overview of the various meal plan options is available here. If you already have a meal plan and are looking to request a change, see the requirements below.
The steps involved to add a meal plan change depending on the timing of your transaction. Please review the dates & deadlines in the table below to ensure you understand how to complete your request.

Changing a Meal Plan
Meal Plan Change Instructions:
All meal plan changes are subject to the eligibility requirements for that plan based on student level & housing assignment.
Before the Self-Service Meal Plan Adjustment Deadline (adds, increases, & decreases):
- Log into MySlice and navigate to Housing Self-Service
- On the left toolbar, select “Meal Plan & ‘Cuse Cash”, then “Dining Plans”, then select the term.
- Select your new meal plan using the drop-down menu and click 'Purchase Meal Plan' to submit.
- Changes may take 24 hours to apply.
*Eligible students looking to cancel their meal plan must do so before January 26 at 5 p.m. Students must email housing@syr.edu to request their meal plan cancellation.
After the Self-Service Meal Plan Adjustment Deadline (adds & increases only):
If you are looking to increase your current meal plan after the self-service deadline has passed, then you must submit your request by form. Remember that at this time, meal plans can only be increased, not decreased.
Plan decreases or cancellations are no longer accepted. Students may only increase their current plans. Once the request form is reviewed, plan changes will be applied (1-2 business days) to the student's account.
After the Meal Plan Add/Increase Request Form Deadline:
After this date, the request form will no longer be available and plan changes are no longer allowed. Students with extenuating circumstances will need to email housing@syr.edu.
Prorations for Changing a Meal Plan
- Meal Plan Dining Dollars plan to a Block Plan:
- Meal Plan Dining Dollars will be prorated based on your usage.
- Block meals will be given in full amounts.
- Block Plan to an Unlimited Plan:
- Meal Plan Dining Dollars will be prorated based on your usage.
