First Issue ID Cards

If you have never had a Syracuse University ID Card (SUID Card) before and you are requesting your first card to be printed, please choose the category that describes you and follow the instructions provided.

All New Students (Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, and ESF) Starting in the Fall Semester
Welcome to Syracuse! If you are a new student starting at the University in the fall semester, your SUID card will automatically be produced if you submit a photo before August 10. You will then receive your SUID card based on your student type:

  • New undergraduate students living on campus will receive their card at move-in
    • OR at New Student Orientation, if participating. New Student Orientation participants should submit their photo as soon as possible in order to receive their card at orientation. Students who do not submit their photo early enough to receive their card at orientation will receive their card at move-in in August
  • New undergraduate commuters will pick up their card at the ID card office
  • New Law and ESF students who submit their photo by the deadline will receive their card from their college
  • New graduate students will pick up their card at the ID card office, unless otherwise noted by their advisor

After August 10, you must submit your photo and complete the ID Card Request Form, selecting ‘First Issue’ as your request type. You will receive a notification when your card is available for pickup from the ID card office. The Housing, Meal Plan, and ID Card Services office is located at 111 Waverly Avenue, Suite 111.

  • Do not submit an ID Card Request Form if the August 10 deadline has not yet passed and you are a new student!
  • Do not punch a hole in your SUID card; it will damage the card, and a replacement card will need to be purchased.

Replacement ID Cards

If you need to request a replacement ID card and you wish to update your photo, please follow the instructions on our website and update your photo before submitting your replacement ID Card request.

Replacing a Lost Card
If your SUID card becomes lost or stolen, you may make a request online to receive a replacement card. A $40 fee is charged for each replacement card produced.

  • Student card replacement fees are charged to their student billing account with the University.
  • Faculty & staff are taken to a Cashnet site to pay the card replacement fee via credit card.

To request a replacement, complete the ID Card Request Form, and select ‘Replacing Lost Card’ when prompted to enter your issue type.

  • Do not submit a request form for a lost card if you suspect your card is damaged, or you may be charged for the replacement.

You will be notified by email when your card is ready for pickup from the ID card office. The Housing, Meal Plan, and ID Card Services office is located at 111 Waverly Ave., Suite 111

Replacing a Damaged Card
If you still have your SUID card in your possession, but the card is damaged and has stopped working from typical wear and tear, please bring your card to our office to be tested. Damaged cards due to normal wear and tear are replaced in person at our office, and the replacement fee is waived.

  • Do not submit a request form for a lost card if you suspect your card is damaged, or you may be charged for the replacement.
  • Important: SUID Cards will not be approved for damage replacement if there is a hole punched in the card, as this will ruin the card and the card will need to be replaced at the cardholder’s expense.
