ID CARD SERVICES

Other than card format and digital storage of ID pictures, the only change in the new card is that the bar code will no longer be used by the Library and will no longer appear on the face of the card. The Library now uses the magnetic stripe on the reverse side of the card to identify cardholders.

Non-picture identification cards will continue to be produced for University College students and for special summer program participants.

New ID Card pictures need not be taken for the purpose of replacing an ID; students or faculty/staff may call or stop at the ID Card Office for replacement and a new card can be available for immediate pickup using the digitally stored image.

Digitally stored photos will be used only for University identification purposes.

ID cards for new students can be produced during the summer by asking students to provide, in advance of the University's opening, a photo in passport format that will be scanned into the digital photo file. This will enable the University to provide a permanent ID for students on arrival and avoiding the need to issue a temporary ID . For more information contact the Syracuse University ID Card Office at 206 Steele Hall, telephone extension 3-2726.
